ASUM logo
Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine
The Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) promotes excellence in ultrasound practice and sets professional standards across Australasia. Its Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU) recognises medical practitioners who use ultrasound as a diagnostic tool at the point of care, demonstrating proficiency in image acquisition and interpretation.
UIE is proud to be an ASUM-approved CCPU provider, offering courses that reflect ASUM’s standards and help clinicians gain confidence and competence in safe, effective point-of-care ultrasound.
ACEM logo
Australasian College for Emergency Medicine
The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) provides governance and training standards for ultrasound use within emergency medicine. Its Ultrasound Training and Governance Guideline outlines best practice for the safe and effective integration of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) into clinical care.
UIE’s courses align with ACEM’s Ultrasound Education Pathway, meeting the learning outcomes for foundational modules such as AAA, eFAST, FELS, DVT, Lung, and Procedural Access, ensuring participants receive training consistent with ACEM’s standards for emergency physicians.
EMUGs logo
Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Groups
EMUGs (Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Groups) is a clinician-led, not-for-profit organisation supporting the growth of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The group promotes excellence in POCUS through advocacy, education, and a strong network of clinicians who share ideas and best practice.
For UIE participants, EMUGs offers an ideal way to stay connected, continue developing ultrasound skills, and be part of a like-minded community dedicated to improving patient care through effective ultrasound use.
GE HealthCare offers a broad ultrasound portfolio spanning general imaging (LOGIQ), cardiovascular (Vivid), women’s health (Voluson), handheld (Vscan), and AI-enabled point-of-care systems (Venue). This range supports everything from day-to-day scanning to emergency and critical care applications, helping clinicians move between settings with consistent workflows and image quality. UIE appreciates GE HealthCare’s support in showcasing systems that suit diverse training needs across New Zealand.
Fujifilm Sonosite is widely recognised for portable, point-of-care ultrasound designed for use at the bedside and in challenging environments. Their systems emphasise durability, ease of use, and clinically focused image quality - attributes that align well with POCUS teaching and emergency care. UIE is grateful to Sonosite for their ongoing support and for enabling hands-on learning with robust POCUS platforms.
Mindray provides ultrasound solutions across general imaging, women’s health, cardiovascular, and point-of-care categories, including portable systems suited to emergency and critical care workflows. Their platforms combine accessible design with advanced imaging and AI-enhanced features that support practical teaching and skill development. UIE appreciates Mindray’s contribution in supplying systems that broaden our trainees’ exposure to different technologies.
