POCUS (Point of care ultrasound) workshops - New Zealand wide
UIE provides entry-level and intermediate POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound) training for healthcare professionals across New Zealand. Designed for emergency physicians, urgent care doctors, GPs, SMOs, nurses, and nurse practitioners, these workshops focus on ultrasound used during real-time patient consultations.
We believe that a strong understanding of scanning techniques is an invaluable part of quality clinical care, which is why we’ve developed comprehensive, hands-on courses to help practitioners build both skill and confidence.
What’s involved in our POCUS ultrasound training
Our critical care ultrasound courses combine theory with practical, hands-on experience using a variety of ultrasound machines. Typically held over two days, each course covers key topics such as basic physics and instrumentation, as well as focused echocardiography and an introduction to using POCUS for:
- Focused Echocardiography
- Renal
- Biliary
- DVT
- Lung
- eFAST
- AAA
- Procedural Guidance
Each workshop includes several hours of supervised scanning to help you expand your knowledge and refine your technique. You’re also welcome to bring your own ultrasound machine for practice.
